More than a Sweet Project

Beth and team approached me for some help on their non-profit website that helps kids in need with personalized birthday celebrations.  They had a design and site organization but needed some technical expertise to take it live.  So, I worked with them to implement the design and add a better way to take take donations.

Collecting Money Online

Whether you are a non-profit or a small business, one of the best ways to grow your business is to collect money online.  This takes away a lot of the friction between you and your donors or customers. There are three key facets of a successful e-commerce experience.

  1. Make it easy.
  2. Make it clear what they are purchasing.
  3. Make it secure.

For Sweet Celebrations, we made it really easy for someone to donate to the organization by providing buttons for both one time and recurring donations.  Beth and team came up with a clear description of how they would use the money.  Finally, we made the whole solution secure by using the industry leader in online payments (Stripe) to process the transaction.

Fast Hosting and Easy Editing

It takes more than aerodynamics to make a fast car.  To be fast, a car needs good tires and a fast engine.  Likewise, a website needs more than just an eye-catching design to be successful. How you maintain the site and where it is hosted makes a huge difference in the success of your website.  When building a new website, you should ask the following questions:

  • How do I update my site?
  • Where is it hosted?
  • Who do I contact if something goes wrong?

For Sweet Celebrations, I built the website using Fixture.  Fixture provides an easy-to-use visual way to update your site.  Fixture sites are also hosted on Amazon's powerful AWS infrastructure.  It is the fastest, most reliable storage solution on the planet.  Period.
